Rome

After our stay at the Baltic sea, we visited Rome, but only for a few days. This is the side view of St.Peter's Basilica. The basilica is a bit crooked, I know, but nevertheless, this sketch reminds me of a beautiful day there.

I recognized it immediately! Oh I love Rome, as you can see by my blog photo of me sketching the church domes last October at sunset. I will be kayaking this morning...I will think of you while on the water!

Very interesting method of sketching the scene in Rome - assume its on brown kraft paper with chalks. Like the crookedness - did you have a flagon of wine alongside your sketchbook???

Ha, ha, no, Joan, I didn't have wine at my table; I didn't have even a table...and the spatter is Burnt Sienna spatter ;-)) And you assumed right: it i s on kraft paper with chalks!!!

I love this sketch, it looks so much like a sketch in a travel journal. and so many good memories go with it (for you, I have never been to Rome) Thank you for your kind words on the death of my sister in law. They were much appreciated.

Croked or not I think it's a wonderful sketch and am green with envy that you visited this beautiful place.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
