While waiting for the bus, I had time for this sketch...

Rome

After our stay at the Baltic sea, we visited Rome, but only for a few days. This is the side view of St.Peter's Basilica. The basilica is a bit crooked, I know, but nevertheless, this sketch reminds me of a beautiful day there.

Nach unserem Aufenthalt an der Ostsee waren wir noch ein paar Tage in Rom. Dies ist die Seitenansicht des St.Petersdoms. Die Kuppel habe ich etwas schief gezeichnet, aber trotzdem erinnert mich die Skizze an einen schönen Tag dort.

Baltic Sea

What I like about the Baltic Sea is the fact that you have woods close to the beach. So you can walk in the woods and suddenly see the sea. This was the case when I did this sketch - and I could have done a hundred more, because I l o v e these kind of landscapes. I remember having seen similar ones near the sea in Maine, USA...

Was ich an der Ostsee so sehr schätze ist, daß der Wald oft bis an den Strand heranreicht. So kann man im Wald spazierengehen und plötzlich das Meer sehen. Das war auch der Fall, als ich diese Skizze machte - und ich hätte hundert weitere machen können, so sehr liebe ich diese Art von Landschaften. Ich erinnere mich, daß ich ähnliche Natur in Maine, USA gesehen habe...

By the Sea

At least...a view of the Baltic sea. - At the left, you can see a typical beach chair. The water temperature was 18 degrees C - about 64 degrees F...but nevertheless, we went for a swim.

Endlich,- die Ostsee! Links im Bild ein typischer Strandkorb. Die Wassertemperatur war 18 Grad, aber wir gingen trotzdem schwimmen.

Alley with Trees

Near the Baltic Sea in Germany, you find many kilometres of streets like this one. They seem to be green tunnels and if you drive on a hot summer day, it is quite pleasant to use these kind of streets...

Nahe der Ostsee gibt es in Deutschland viele Kilometer dieser Alleenstraßen. Sie erscheinen wie grüne Tunnel und wenn man an einem heißen Sommertag im Auto unterwegs ist, ist es sehr angenehm, diese Art von Straßen zu benutzen...

From my holiday sketchbook

Within the next weeks,I will post some of the sketches I made during my holidays. This is the landscape you see when you leave Berlin towards the Baltic Sea.

In den nächsten Wochen werde ich einige Skizzen zeigen, die ich während unseres Urlaubs gemacht habe. Diese zeigt die Landschaft, wenn man Berlin verlassen hat und Richtung Ostsee fährt.
