Kingfisher

Another project came to my mind: birds from Europe and their scientific names from A to Z.
I started with "Alcedo atthis", the kingfisher.
It will be available as a print in my new ETSY shop.
Collage, ink and watercolour on clear blue Canson "Mi-Teintes".

This is a combination of an ink drawing, acrylic paint (the white), watercolour and watercolour pencils. I like how the bookpage gives additional texture to the painting.

Autumn

One of the seasons I like so much is autumn. I love to go for a walk, collect leaves and bring them home to draw them. Some years ago, in October 2005, I tried to find 31 different trees and drew 31 leaves, day after day. I tried to identify every tree, so I could write down the scientific name.
During that task, I learned a lot about the trees in my neighbourhood and about trees in general...

Oktoberfest

Today, the "Oktoberfest" has started in Munich. Trains and subways are full of people from all over the world. 6 million visitors are expected to come this year. There is a saying that the indigenous people of Munich never visit the "Wies'n" (this is the local term for "Oktoberfest"). For those who are interested, the fest is open until the 5th of October.

ETSY shop launched

It was a little quiet here in my blog during the last few days. But now I'm happy to say that I launched my ETSY shop and I started a second blog with photos and links! The fantasy bird has fine golden details (they don't show in the scan) and will be available as a print like some of my earlier work, too. Have a wonderful week!

House

Still thinking about the vacation near the Baltic sea, I have drawn this tiny house with coloured pencils on cold pressed watercolour paper.

Arum maculatum

This is only a scribble to remember a plant I saw the first time in my life - Arum maculatum!
