What I like about the Baltic Sea is the fact that you have woods close to the beach. So you can walk in the woods and suddenly see the sea. This was the case when I did this sketch - and I could have done a hundred more, because I l o v e these kind of landscapes. I remember having seen similar ones near the sea in Maine, USA...
Was ich an der Ostsee so sehr schätze ist, daß der Wald oft bis an den Strand heranreicht. So kann man im Wald spazierengehen und plötzlich das Meer sehen. Das war auch der Fall, als ich diese Skizze machte - und ich hätte hundert weitere machen können, so sehr liebe ich diese Art von Landschaften. Ich erinnere mich, daß ich ähnliche Natur in Maine, USA gesehen habe...

Both of your sea paintings are so beautiful!! Makes me want to walk out of the woods and see this.
IN southern california we don't have views like this but I have seen similar in northern california. It is a wonderful delight to be hiking in the woods and then come into a clearing to see the ocean! I agree that the colors in these two paintings are stunning!
This painting just makes me want to be there, watching and listening and maybe even doing a painting myself. How wonderful you had this inspiring vacation.
