Olives are very important to the people of Crete. There are 3 main sorts:
1.Koroneiki
2. Throumbolia and
3.Tsounati
Cretan olive oil is among the best ones in the world. I didn't only eat a lot of olives, I, too, sketched them. My favourite dinner was "Greek salad" with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, onion rings, black olives and feta cheese with salt, pepper, vinegar and a lot of wonderful Cretan olive oil which tastes mild and fruity...
Oliven sind sehr wichtig für die Kreter. Vor allem diese drei Sorten werden angebaut:

Das kretische Olivenöl ist eines der besten der Welt. Ich habe nicht nur viele Oliven gegessen; ich habe sie auch skizziert. Mein Lieblings-Abendessen war Griechischer Salat mit frischen Tomaten, Gurken, Zwiebelringen, schwarzen Oliven und Feta-Käse; gewürzt mit Salz, Pfeffer, Essig und viel von diesem wunderbaren kretischen Olivenöl, das mild und fruchtig schmeckt.
