This was actually my first coffee sketch. It's not a real landscape; I was only doodling to find out the limits of this new medium...
Das war eigentlich meine erste Kaffeeskizze. Es ist keine Landschaft, sondern ich habe einfach ein bißchen herumgespielt, um das neue Medium "Kaffee" und seine Grenzen kennenzulernen...

What a lovely, warm brown color. I think it works great for the landscape and portrait. Hmmm, what are the economics?...is coffee less expensive than wc paint?
Sharon, yes, coffee is less expensive...what I still don't know is if coffee has a sufficient lightfastness...but we will see. I like the monochrome way of painting with it. It has a calming effect (on me)!
Das ist wirklich interessant! Mein Mann trinkt mehr Kaffee als ich, zwar ist es Espresso Kaffe aber das sollte auch gehen, oder... vielleicht ist es zu stark??? Irgend mal wann sollte ich es ausprobieren.
Tolle Landschaft!
Liebe Gruesse aus Kanada!
What a neat color! Richer than sepia. I like it. Now I have to try it.
it is beautiful. what a wonderful idea. must go have a look at the flickr group.
What a great idea...and what a beautiful effect.
I, too, am addicted to coffee and will have to give painting with it a try. Your paintings are really interesting and I like value studies. Thanks, now back to my latte.
Claudia - this came out beautifully. There's an artist around here who paints with wine, he's even published a book of his 'vinarelles', but I like your coffee sketch better.
Very nice :)!
Was für eine schöne Idee, mit Kaffee zu malen. Und die Bilder als auch die Effekte sind richtig gut gelungen.
That's lovely! WHat a clever idea.
neat job...you just used coffee???
@scquiltaddict:
Yes, I just used coffee, but I ,too, used 2 different kind of pens. One of them was a reddish brown and bleeded a little...
Thanks to all for your wonderful comments!
Great work with the coffee Claudia...I like you landscape and like Teri says, it has a lovely sepia feel. Very creative!

This is a really great idea. I'm a coffee addict and I've never heard of painting with coffee before. Maybe I should use decaf? Maybe I could try Kool-aid. Very inspirational.
This is lovely. Progressive washes or different strengths of coffee? I would imagine that they even smell great.
Thank you all again for your wonderful comments!
I thought coffee was acidic and it will eventually eat into the paper. It gives a beautiful effect though. Have you put a test strip in the window for a few weeks to see how lightfast it is?
Oh dear - painting with coffee - what a waste! Maybe that el cheapo kind. Maybe I should try the leftovers from the ginseng, the lemon and ginger, the various Twinings. Good results anyway. Whether it fades I wonder.
I knew of a painter once who used jam and as time went by the painted crusted over. Ugh!

That's a really cool effect that you got from the coffee. Very unique. Nice work for just doodling!
