Helleborus niger ("Christmas Rose"): native to Central Europe. It is found primarily in mountainous areas and alpine meadows. The latin name part "niger" refers to it's hidden black roots. It is a toxic plant and one of the earliest flowering plants in Central Europe.

Helleborus niger ("Christrose"): Heimat: Mitteleuropa. Man findet sie vor allem im Gebirge. Der lateinische Namensteil "niger" bezieht sich auf ihre schwarzen Wurzeln. Sie ist eine giftige Pflanze und eine der ersten, die im Frühjahr in Mitteleuropa blühen.

In alten Zeiten pflanzte man sie gerne in die Nähe der Eingangstüre, um böse Geister daran zu hindern, über die Türschwelle ins Haus einzudringen...
